Review Frozen II
“Frozen II” is colorful, with seasonal splendor to provide a wow factor, and performances are generally active enough to pass, though the movie gives a little too much screentime to Olaf, the Mater of this series, who’s left with little to do besides add some tired daffiness to an imposing feature. Much like “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” “Frozen II” connects as it should before becoming unnecessarily grim and psychologically dense, stopping the picture to deal with some PG-rated heaviness that doesn’t seem essential. Lee’s trying to beef up her writing, offering an adult evolution to the “Frozen” universe, which is laudable. However, this severity suffocates the viewing experience, losing the fun factor of the original effort. The “How to Train Your Dragon” series is a masterful example of a franchise developing with its audience. The “Frozen” growth spurt is a bit drastic, especially when the storyline still has to deal with a talking snowman and a reindeer sidekick.
